Parents can engage with their child’s j2journal through the Parent Portal, where they can like and comment on entries, and—if the school enables this feature—post content from home.

  1. When a parent submits a comment or journal post, it first goes into the moderation area in j2journal.

  2. You will receive a notification that new content is waiting for review.

  3. Open j2journal to review the submission/s

  4. Select the relevant class journal (you will see a purple number to show there are comments/entries for submission)

  5. Open the moderate area (a purple number will indicate comments/entries waiting approval)

  6. Review each submission:

    • Approve it to make it visible on the child’s journal.

    • Disallow it if it’s not suitable. Disallowed content will not appear in the journal.

    • The Edit button offers you the opportunity to edit the content, tags, folders and add progression statements using j2review.

  7. Alternatively, you can click the "approve all" button, which will approve all entries and comments held in the moderate area.

  8. Once approved, the comment or post becomes part of the child’s journal timeline, visible to the pupil, parent and teacher.

You can adjust moderation settings at any time via j2dashboard, including whether parents can comment or create journal entries. This can also be done on a journal by journal basis. Find more information here
