j2message is used to communicate with parents. You might want to tailor parental messaging options to control which staff parents can contact, decide whether parents can reply to messages, and ensure communication remains manageable, secure, and aligned with your school’s policies.

Tailoring messaging options

  1. Open j2dashboard (in the teacher area) to configure messaging settings.

  2. Scroll down to find the messaging settings

  3. Choose to:

    • Disable messaging entirely (deselect "Allow teachers to message parents")

    • Allow only teachers to initiate messages (deselect "allow parents to message teachers)

    • Allow parents/carers to reply. (select both settings)

  4. You can also limit which teachers parents/carers can contact by enabling parental messaging, clicking Configure, selecting a class, and choosing which teachers are available for messaging.
