This article guides you through the process of regenerating a QR code for a user. This allows you to provide them with a fresh QR code for continued access. The following applies whether the QR code is expiring or is compromised.
Open Manage Users: Navigate to the j2dashboard (now found in the Teacher's area) and select "Manage Users".
Select the User: Locate the user whose QR code needs regenerating. Check the checkbox next to their name to select them. (Fig.1)
Open the QR Code manager: Click the QR Code button located at the top of the page. This will open the QR code management page. (Fig.2)
Access the User's QR Code manager: Click on the "Generate user login codes" button (Fig.3)
Access the User's QR Code manager: Click on the user's existing QR code image. This will open a view allowing you to manage the QR code. (Fig.4)
Generate a new QR Code: Click the "Regenerate" button. This will create a new, valid QR code for the user, replacing the expiring/compromised one. (Fig.5)
Print or Distribute the New QR Code: The new QR code can now be printed and physically placed in the pupil's book, or sent home.
Important Considerations:
- Timing: Regenerate the QR code shortly before the existing one expires to ensure uninterrupted access for the user.
- Communication: Inform the pupil or their parent/guardian that a new QR code has been generated and any previous versions are now invalid.
- Security: Treat QR codes as sensitive information as they allow login without the need for a password. DO NOT share them publicly. If a printed QR code is lost, regenerate it immediately.
