1. Open your j2journal from the Launchpad.

  2. Select the class journal you want to add to.

  3. Click “New”.

  4. Add a title and description. These are optional.

    • You can also add a journal entry that includes only a title and/or a description (for example if you would like to add a written description of a class activity with no additional photographs to keep parents informed)

  5. Click "Add file"

  6. Choose your content type:

    • Audio recordings - record sound bites directly into the journal entry

    • Photographs - take a photo directly into the journal entry

    • Videos - take a video directly into the journal

    • Files – Upload documents, images, or audio from MyFiles or upload your device.

    • Links – Add a web link to external resources.

    • Work from a Pupil's file

  7. Click the "next" button

  8. Tag pupils whose learning the entry relates to.

    • Pupils will only see entries they created or where they are tagged.

    • Click the "All pupils in..." button to tag all pupils. Please note, this will make the journal entry visible to ALL pupils AND any linked parents. Please be mindful of any pupils you might have who do not have photographic sharing permissions

  9. Click "Next" if you would like to assign work to folders or against progression frameworks. Or click "Create" to add the journal entry as it is.

  10. (Optional) Add to folders to keep your journal organised by groups or topics.

    • To add a folder, click the "add folder" button, name your folder and choose a colour

    • To assign the journal entry to a folder select the folder by ticking the box

  11. (Optional) Link journal entries to progression frameworks:

    1.  Click the "add" button

    2. Select the framework, subject and level. 

    3. Select the appropriate statements.

    4. Note - You can select statements from multiple subjects

    5. Click the "x" button (top right) to exit out of the progression statements screen

  12. Review the linked statements, and Click “Create”.

  13. Your new entry will now appear in the journal timeline.


Notes:

  • Pupils can add their own content: they’ll only see and add to their classes and view entries they created or were tagged in.

  • Content can be edited or moved between folders at any time.

  •  If connected to the parent portal, all parents connected with the children tagged will be notified and see this learning appear in their journal.
